Outside TIme....Finally

Someone was very excited to get outside and play in the snow yesterday...
Someone else ended up not being so keen on the idea.
Poor thing, I made him endure it all. I mean, he better get used to it since he lives in MINNESOTA for crying out loud!
She loved every minute. We just played with sand pails and shovels and moved snow around.
He decided he wanted to be held. And I obliged.
Maybe next winter little boy, when you're at least walking around. Snow is a little more fun then!

Stylin'

Hair stylin' that is. Emalyn decided she would do both her and Liam's hair.

Good thing he had on those cammo pants to show his manliness cause that hairband is just silly!

Last Weekend

This past weekend Cameron had to work. So it was the kiddos and me for the most part.

That usually isn't so bad, but when the temps are hovering around NEGATIVE NINETEEN DEGREES windchill, I kind of have to think twice about heading outside for any amount of time.

During one of Liam's morning naps we looked outside for awhile at the snow...
Then Emalyn wanted to watch Clifford but her mean old mommy said no (she was asking for the longer movie version rather than the TV episode).

Instead we ate lunch then took in some Sesame Street. To which she said, "Quincy, my big red dog." (Always gotta have the last word, us ladies in my family!!)
And we played all together...(I love that grin on Liam's face.)
And then played a little by ourselves, too.
We read...and played some more.
I even busted out the Play-doh.

My mom in law still had to come over late Saturday afternoon and just provide a little bit of excitement for us with her presence. That was a huge help! (THANK YOU!)

The things I didn't photograph:
-Blowing bubbles in the bathtub (I recorded that time on our Flip, which may show up here)
-2 different crafty projects with Emmy-nothing specific (for her anything with glue is wonderful)
-Tinkerbell movie time
-Emmy endlessly pushing her stroller around with the baby in it that had an owie

Ooooh, I forgot about Emmy's and my pancakes. Those were good. We eat them with canned peaches. YUM.
(Cameron made mini pancakes once and we found Emmy eats them way better than one large one....so mini one's it is!)

I am most definitely OUT of things to do at home and will gladly take suggestions...

Really, can it please just be a little warmer this next weekend so we can get out a little bit?

I'll even take 30-a virtual heat wave!

Pomp-in

You may not find this as funny as I did....
But come on! She is emulating me....while "pomp-in."

I'm still chuckling.

BLUR-Now Fixed!

EDITED: Go to the Made blog for some help on the mast/header. She figured it out with the help of Blogger. Nice!

Does anyone know what's up with blogger and the fact that every time I update my title it is blurry no matter what I do? SO FRUSTRATED!

I hated how it looked so much that I left it without a photo until I figure it out...so now it is BORING.

Have to figure this out!

Ba La Neena!

She put on my trouser socks, both on her arms and her feet/legs. and announced, while spinning, "I a ba-la-neena (ballerina)!"

Her dress does some really great stuff while she was twirling too, psychedelic!!

Bath Time

My Girl
(And no, I do not promote her using an infant bathtub for her baths, BUT on the occasion that she chooses to play around or be silly, I say, why not? What is it hurting? Right?)

My Boy

LJW-6 Months

Little Liam,

I am in fact writing this 10 days late and back posting so I look like I have some bit of my life in order! Having you and your sister is one of the sweetest things to have happened to me but never before have I felt so incredibly unorganized and forgetful.
You my boy, are 6 months old. You are sitting up for much longer periods of time by yourself, without assistance. Six months and right on track!

You smile the sweetest smiles and still have a beautiful toothless grin. That is one of my favorite baby things....smiles with no teeth. But those little white nubbins are coming fast and strong. The drool is relentless! And your otherwise sweet disposition has at times been drastically altered. What else can be attributed other than teething! Not to mention your even stronger desire to chew ANYTHING!!
We are onto mixing your foods for a more blended taste. But boy you are loving the sweets. Fruits are so right up your alley, but the veggies...not so much! We're working on it, because I know you need those veggies to be the pro athlete your dad wants you to be.

In addition to the mixing of food mush, we are giving you bits of cheerios and puffs...and are you a gagger! Tongue out and everything. The sounds are horrendous but lend me a good laugh!

You weighed 18 pounds and 13 ounces at your 6 month appt. Your height is in the 95th percentile at 28 inches. You are NOT small but you are oh so cute. You regularly wear 12 months clothing and sport it quite well I might add!

You've always been a champ at tummy time, but now have the tendency to rise up with your arms fully extended and balance on your feet at the same time....for those yoga people out there he's doing plank pose. I foresee crawling in the very near future, yes I do.
You definitely have a temper, and aren't afraid to show it if I don't get myself cracking to your wishes. You are patient, but oh, there is a limit. Of course I should know that already, but I get too used to your laid back sweetness and forget that there is some Latino in your blood. Let alone Irish in there too. OY!

About mid-december you started at school three days a week like your sister. I have to say it has been really good for you. On Thursdays when you, me and Emmy are home, you are so much less fussy, and seem more content. But that could be your age as well. Your teachers love your disposition too. I know your Oma misses seeing you, and you her. You both have a special bond from her caring for you those months.

You are only becoming more and more my precious little boy. So different yet so similar to your sister, my little girl. It is amazing how God creates beings that can pull so strongly within one's heart. We've only known each other a short time. And to think God loves me more than I love you. Unfathomable.

In six short months you will be one, my little turtle. I can't wait to see what each day holds until then.

I love you, baby boy.

Starting off New

Lots of new things are getting tried out around here...
Number one: Liam sitting up.

He still has the boppy...you know....just in case. But he is definitely doing it on his own.
The other thing is potty training...this is what she did while on the potty.

We started out pretty good, but have found that she cannot, and I mean CANNOT stand the sensation of going. The concentration it takes for her to relax and let it out is bordering on ridiculous.

So I backed off. We have taken a break. The tantrums are too much.

You got any ideas?

Stickers worked for a while. Then we tried a movie for motivation. Then a little candy worked.

The pediatrician said maybe coins in a jar so she can see them adding up.

Once she figured out it was basically just to get her to go on the potty, she quit.

Too smart for her own good, if you ask me!

Now we just ask her to tell us when she needs to be changed, and that clean and dry is the way she needs to be.

Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. Maybe I was too sudden with all of this...

She likes to take things slow and have full explanations while doing it. Then she explains it back to you.

*sigh*

More to come on this in the next few weeks I am sure... :)

Happy New Year!
