Dopey's Mommy?

Cameron and Emmy went to Target to buy diapers.

He came back with this toy for Emmy. One of the Princesses.

(I couldn't be too angry because it was Belle, my favorite! He must have known...)

She was SO excited to open the box and take her out. Her eyes were lit up like high beams as she looked over every. single. inch. of that doll.

She caressed Belle's dress, her face, moved her arms....then touched her hair, and immediately tried to take off her tiara-somehow I got her to leave that on, and was grateful I never presented the doll to her with the shoes on...OH NO, I do not need a 911 call because she thought Liam needed to know what they tasted like.

Point for me!

So, Monday night, she was holding her and started saying things about the doll....and this word kept coming up: do-pee. And I look at Cameron like, whaaaat?

Finally after flipping through my mental rolodex of Emmy related toys/books/vocabulary....I recall one of her books. Aptly named, Dopey's Bedtime. (It's a book about bedtime routines. And probably the only princess related thing we own. Now, I don't dislike the princesses, but I don't need or want my girl to be a prissy-can't-get-dirty-girly-girl. There will be balance!!)

Snow White is in the book for about a second...and Emmy obviously asked, Dopey's mommy? She really wanted to know if they were one and the same!

So, we enlightened her.

We checked out Beauty and the Beast-fast forwarding only to the songs and skipping over any tumultuous scenes as Emmy is a very sensitive girl that has very real dreams (that keep us, namely Cameron, up at night) and she starts crying if anyone in the movie might be "sad, hurting, or crying" themselves.
The second photo here she is asking about a glimpse she had of one of those tumultuous scenes...she gets concerned fast!

So we straighten out that there is a happy ending and Belle has a prince that she loves and kisses, just like mommy and daddy. They are happy!!

And she says, "Dopey's mommy?"

So much for that!

PS: Please excuse Emmy's hair and clothing....apparently during her walk with daddy and Quincy, she was singing parts of the Sound of Music, and hugged a tree acting out the bedroom scene during the song, Favorite Things. Well, the tree just had some limbs cut off...so she returned from their walk with sap in her hair. Sap on her hands. Sap on her dress.

Speaking of, anyone know how to get sap out of clothing? Mind leaving a comment helping me out??!? Thanks...

Rain Rain Go Away

Like most of you, we've had a lot of rain here.
Even got the fungus to prove it.

Cameron photographed those shrooms. Nice job, huh?!?!

I had to preoccupy this one while he did so.
Nose pressed to the glass-she can't be without her daddy!

Looks

These first two aren't so bad....but this next one.

All I see is Uncle Roger. What do you think, family?

Maybe it is the hair?!?! I don't know...

I am refraining from posting a real photo of Uncle Roger because I think it is more fun going from memory...!!

Sundays make for a long day...

Habits

My boy, we've found, loves to touch his hair/head. (My house is so dark sometimes, it can be difficult to get a good photo-these are proof!)

Emmy actually has a little habit too when she is drinking from her sippy cup. Her left hand always reaches up and grabs her hair. Its not so much a twirl as it is a rub between her thumb and forefinger. I'll have to capture that so you all can see it, it started when she was about 18 months...
Couldn't help but post these, isn't she cute?

U Pick

Headed out to the Apple Orchard yesterday.

Emmy and Daddy got to sit on a tractor. You know up here in the city where we live, we don't see many a tractor! ;)
We rode the train...once with Daddy,
Once with Mommy.
We tried to feed the goats, however, they were so disinterested, these are the best photos we have of that portion of the place. Yes, it does say, "kids for sale... ."

Cameron and Emmy went on a tractor ride that took people out to the pumpkin patch.
Liam was there too...enjoying some sleep. He woke up and looked around every time we stopped rolling him on the gravel paths!
Had us some lunch...we used to think they had really good BBQ pork sandwiches, UNTIL we tried this authentic Texas BBQ place in our own town. Yeah, sorry Emma Krumbees, not even close! That's why I had a brat instead :)
Emmy had an apple on the way home. See that sucker?!?! It's as big as her head! She didn't finish it off, but I have to say for the size of it she did pretty well....I can't blame her for not wanting to stop, ever had a Honeycrisp? You just can't stop eating them. SO. GOOD.
Upon our arrival home, I opened Emmy's door and saw this:
Yeah, she wrote on her FACE with crayon. Something about that just sounds wrong. And the car seat didn't fair too well either.

Ah...life with a toddler.

Nine/Ten Weeks, LJW

He's really coming into his own, huh?

If you read my letter to the kid, you would have known that I thought he weighed 16.5 lbs.

HA! Was I off...he ended up being about 12.5, which is in the 90th percentile. So at least I wasn't just imagining he's heavy. :)

Favorites

One of my favorite outfits to date. And he pretty much was grown out of it by the time I got him in it. These shots were taken at the end of August...
I think he likes it too! :)

Where Else...the Zoo!

Aren't they cute? Watching the otters.
Love swans. I couldn't get over how large this one was. It looks so small in this photo, but I kid you not....HUGE.
Finally a shot with me and both kids. Still sounds kind of strange to say "both kids." I don't know, I still don't feel old enough at times to be at this point in my life....

Finally got a photo of Liam actually AT the zoo. Real nice ones too since the first one didn't turn out and in the next one the lighting is all weird because of where I was sitting down by the dolphin tanks.

Always next time, right? ;)

Living with a Toddler

Items that adorn my bathtub.

And I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Going Walking

Weather had taken a much colder turn here in MN...it is strange to think a couple weeks ago we were dealing with hot, and I mean HOT & HUMID with AIR CONDITIONING on for days on end.

Liam had been outside probably a handful of times due to this ridiculous heat since he was born. We'll just say walks have been few and far between for him and me.

But yesterday, it was just the right temp for a walk.

And how did he enjoy his walk?

Like this:

Out like a light!

Ah, and how did SHE enjoy her walk?

Like this:

She refers to that hat as her skateboarding (or snowboarding) hat.

And the sunglasses are because "it too sunny ou-side."

It really was a nice walk. :)

LJW-2 Mos

My Little Boy,

Time's a tickin' and it has definitely been fun seeing you grow.
You love to coo. I think to try and compete with your sister. And boy, you have a ways to go because she has some pipes!!

You love to smile...especially at your sister! I can tell she feels very happy when you smile at her because she gets shy when she knows you are (really) looking at her.
You follow Emmy, daddy and me around the room...but you don't like to look at toys much. Not even those black and white patterned pictures that people say make kids smarter-that stuff just doesn't seem to interest you. (We'll have to see what that means later in life, lol!)

Everyone who sees you comments on your size and that you are getting those cutie pie rolls in your arms and legs...I have to agree, it is adorable. :) You get weighed at the doctor's this week (along with those nasty immunizations) so I am going to guess you are 16.5 lbs. Your sister always fit into clothes "designated" for her actual age...you? Not so much. You are already into 3-6 month and some 6 month! And your head?!?! I'm not gonna even go there, it's a good size noggin'. I've gotta get some winter hats purchased because your hair sure isn't going to do much for that melon of yours. :)
Daycare starts for you this month, but you also get to spend some time with your Oma as she has agreed to watch you a couple days a week as well. We'll have to see how that transition goes-changes always take time...

You've gotten to spend the last two weeks with your daddy at home. You didn't sleep much because for some reason you decided you wanted to smile at daddy for one whole day, then fuss the whole next day!! We're still recovering...We think it is because you miss your momma since that is the first time we had offered bottles and you were away from me for 8 full hours.

I think you really, REALLY want to sit up and watch everything from a more upright position. Since birth you have had a really strong neck so probably by the end of next month or so you will be able to use the Bumbo...that was one of Emmy's favorite toys back when she was a baby. Now that she is losing all her baby fat she fits in it again!

You've been so sweet to have around Liam and we are all so happy you are here with us. We are so excited to see you grow and really start interacting with all of us. Daddy and I especially want to see you and Emmy together. I know that means arguments too, but it will be so fun!
We love you little Liam.

Love,
Your Momma
