Yay for me!

Here daddy and Emalyn are posing for the camera after church.

And a close up....I think you can finally see her eye color a little bit in the right eye and that it isn't really brown...see?!?!! I'm rooting for hazel!

We are finaly seeing a little more of mommy in Emalyn's features. For sure, that chin has been there the whole time (thanks to Aunt Bea, my grandma's sister) but the face shape and eye shape are getting more and more Mama!

Aunt B

Here, Emalyn and her aunt Bronwyn (Cameron's sister) are having a good 'ole time at a Crown College football game. Bronwyn attends and is in her last semester there. Braedan also attended (some semesters here and others at U of MN-Mankato), graduated in 07, and now volunteers as a strength and conditioning coach for the football team.

Love this next photo (except Emmy looks like she must have been squawking!)!!

Beautiful Day

Minnesota may have its share of cold days...but when the nice days are here. They are really here. Friday was one of those days, so Emalyn and I had to capture a few shots of our enjoyment of it in our backyard. (We actually had just taken Quincy for a walk-the reason for her sun hat.)

And just like a model, she kept turning front to back....you've got to be quick to get her on film!

Here we are trying to figure out the best positioning...I did't realize it looks like I am going to have her wave her hand.

Cameron and I were really happy to see that we got this shot of Emalyn and me laughing. It is hard to capture those moments on film because although they are frequent, usually the sight of the camera causes a change in mood and the moment is lost. I now have this one forever.

I almost forgot to post this one....Emalyn's first experience of bare feet in the grass....and muddy toes. She found a patch of dirt (in a matter of 1 second) and dug her toes in sensing the different textures! She loves being outside...I am glad for that!

Snoozing

Cameron and Emmy after the nightly walk (9/24)....she usually doesn't fall asleep but zonked out this time as you can see in the next shot!!

One of our favorite pairs of shoes for Emmy. Given by Trent. We love these little mary janes!

After, well, during another nightly walk, Emalyn passed out (9/26). After pulling her out of her carrier, taking off her hat and laying her on the couch-she's still out! I was even able to clip her little finger nails and toe nails...poor thing was so tired!!

Lazy Afternoon

After work and daycare, Cameron, Emmy and I decided to sit on the couch and just enjoy each other. Of course we had to take some shots....this is her new favorite spot where she can see everything that is going on since she is little miss observant:)

Boo....this is one of my favorite photos and it may just be too dark! Isn't she so sweet in this one?!?! Not to mention her face isn't overwhelmed by those cheeks!!!

Blurry tummy time....we are practicing extra hard to try and get a "roll over" accomplishment. I know she still has until 6 months, but she has been right on or ahead with all her other developments....mommy doesn't want Emmy to fall behind!

Look into my Eyes...

So I thought I could get some shots that actually showed the real color of Emalyn's eyes since they aren't really brown....yeah, didn't really work. But I have some really nice close ups.

I like this one. Cameron was getting her attention. You've gotta be jealous of those lashes too. Must be nice!

Sunday Best

Cameron had to work this weekend and so I asked him to chose Emalyn's outfit for church on Sunday. Of course, we had to capture it in a photograph so Daddy could see his little girl all dressed up...as you can see she is so pretty in pink!

After our walk that night, Emalyn and I decided to sit on the living room chair and relax, then Quincy decided to join us. He actually rested his head on my shoulder and fell asleep!! We enjoyed our selves until it was Emalyn's bathtime.

This photo actually took forever to get because Emalyn has learned to close her eyes just before the flash....smart little girl. We end up with a lot of closed eyes, squinting eyes or just plain funny shots!

Watching Tummy Time

Emmy's Busy Day

Emalyn is sitting pretty here in a dress as we were getting ready to go to a baby shower for a friend from church. This friend, Amy, has helped us alot in our adjustment together, as she is due to have her fourth....this will be the third girl, and the eldest is a boy. Since she started going to our church about the same time we started going there, the people thought we should have a little something for her....yay!

Here we see Emalyn getting comfortable with Vi McLellan. She has 12 great grandkids! Emmy loves to be in "experienced" arms.

After the Shower, I came home and got Emalyn in some comfortabe pants and a cute shirt that says "I (heart) Mommy." You can't really see it here in this photo, but I just HAD to mention it!! :)

And finally after Emalyn's bath, here is Cameron reading a story to her right before her last feeding. She gets very still and focuses intently on the images and words. Hopefully we are going to raise a book lover! Sorry-the first photo is kind of blurry, but the second one is much better!

Huh?!!?

This is Cameron and my new favorite photo. Love that expression!
My two favorite people!!

Getting a Grip

As promised, here is a video of Emmy beginning to hold blocks with her own two hands....of course whatever she picks up, immediately gets brought to her saliva covered lips! And, the tongue makes it out as well, adding even more saliva to the mix....but that's what one does at 4 months, right?

Blocks

Here Emalyn and I were playing with the blocks in the background. She's getting quite adept at grabbing them with both her hands and bringing them to her mouth. I will be posting a video of that soon!!

I had to get a shot of one of my favorite sleepers Emmy lounges in. The sleeper is just getting to the point where it will be too small (length wise). Her little toes already pull the fabric pretty tight...maybe one more week? We'll see!

A good friend of mine from IL (we met and became friends at church summer camp) made this absolutely adorable cap for Emmy. I love it, and Emmy is the prefect model for it!
Thanks Jacki, it came in perfect time for the fall!!

Bath Time!!

I don't remember the exact date this was taken, but it is definitely within the first 2 weeks of September. Emalyn's favorite time of the day is bath time as you will see....please ignore my horrible singing voice. At least she doesn't seem to mind?!?!!

Tummy Time!

As you can see, Emalyn has a nice bald spot formed on the back of her head....seeing that development has caused me to realize she must be getting plenty of time then on her back, and so here we are working on tummy time by our back sliding glass doors. I am surprised I was able to even get a photo, becuase for some reason, she did NOT want to work on building those biceps!
On another note, these are one of my favorite pairs of pants that Emalyn wears. Sadly, they too are getting too small...a little short to be exact! I think I love how dizzying they are....not to mention, how colorful!!! It's okay, I understand most people either love 'em or hate 'em, there's no in between! :)

My New Shoes

After church today we had to capture Emalyn's new metallic Mary Janes. Well, her outfit too, becuase it in no way will fit her again! You can tell the little sleeves are going to be way too short-I am glad we got to use it once! Any way Back to the shoes....Cameron picked them out Saturday from Babies 'R Us....after I saw them, I just couldn't refuse. They're so cute!

Later that day, we were getting ready for our walk. Here is Emalyn in her Bumbo with her fleece set. We have had to abandon the strollers as she fusses the whole walk back to the house....she prefers to be in a carrier now. We'll see how long that lasts.

And of course, Quincy waiting to go out on the walk with us!

Eating and Quincy

I noticed we only have one photo of Emalyn having a bottle. This photo was taken when we had one left over from daycare, because Emalyn was picked up early by her daddy, and I got off work early! If you couldn't tell by her cheeks, she's a big eater! (Sept 4)

Just trying to get more photos of little miss Emalyn! (Sept 5) She looks like she might just have had enough!

As you can see, Emalyn does know that there is another "someone" in our house. Quincy wanted some attention from us both and I got him to lie next to Emmy...well, in front of Emmy! She was enjoying the resistance of his body with her feet and was kicking them into his back. He finally ran away and got a toy.

Here she was watching Quincy with that toy. You can almost hear her saying, "What's that dog doing?"

Like Father, Like Daughter

This is a sweater that Cameron actually wore back when he lived in Australia. It is progressively getting cooler and cooler here in MN, and thus the sweaters have some out of the closet. This was taken before Emalyn and I left for daycare and work in the morning.

Another photo of Emalyn in her Jumper(the day before we had to bust out the sweaters!)...you can actually notice her right hand is gripping the ball...she's a smarty, this little girl!
