Solids....well, purees.

So, we are starting to allow Emalyn to experience the wonderful world of food. We didn't have any rice cereal yet, so I read a bunch of different things that said you can also try pureed meat. We were already going to have chicken that night, so into the blender it went! Just a very, very small amount, mind you.
And shall we say, the audience wasn't impressed. But seeing as she has only tried mom's milk, I wouldn't expect any other expression!

Hmmm...

Doesn't she look like she is ready to say something? I have gotten more comments like that this week than ever...and I have to agree.

Can't forget about the Q....Here's a close up of that wrinkly mug.

Roll Over, Roll Over

Caught on tape....Emalyn's debut. My narration explains the outfit for those of you Minnesotans wondering why I have her in a tank top.... :)

Funerals...

In Emalyn's 4 months outside the womb, she has already been to two funerals. This one happened to be for a guy Cameron knew back in Watertown, MN from church and school. He sadly died in a car accident at 27 years of age. Emalyn and I decided to pay our respects as he made the most wonderful chocolate covered strawberries for Cameron and my wedding shower-let's just say after culinary school he was a budding pastry chef--UNbelievable truffles, I kid you not.

Below is Emalyn's new favorite way to observe the world....stick straight legs. Opa Weiss was doing a fabulous job entertaining her, with Uncle Jon in the background. And for those of you who know me pretty well, it is killing me that she is wearing socks with that dress. But the blow out diaper luckily only spread to the tights, of which we obviously had to remove, right when we arrived. Go figure.

Yay for me!

Here daddy and Emalyn are posing for the camera after church.

And a close up....I think you can finally see her eye color a little bit in the right eye and that it isn't really brown...see?!?!! I'm rooting for hazel!

We are finaly seeing a little more of mommy in Emalyn's features. For sure, that chin has been there the whole time (thanks to Aunt Bea, my grandma's sister) but the face shape and eye shape are getting more and more Mama!

Aunt B

Here, Emalyn and her aunt Bronwyn (Cameron's sister) are having a good 'ole time at a Crown College football game. Bronwyn attends and is in her last semester there. Braedan also attended (some semesters here and others at U of MN-Mankato), graduated in 07, and now volunteers as a strength and conditioning coach for the football team.

Love this next photo (except Emmy looks like she must have been squawking!)!!

Beautiful Day

Minnesota may have its share of cold days...but when the nice days are here. They are really here. Friday was one of those days, so Emalyn and I had to capture a few shots of our enjoyment of it in our backyard. (We actually had just taken Quincy for a walk-the reason for her sun hat.)

And just like a model, she kept turning front to back....you've got to be quick to get her on film!

Here we are trying to figure out the best positioning...I did't realize it looks like I am going to have her wave her hand.

Cameron and I were really happy to see that we got this shot of Emalyn and me laughing. It is hard to capture those moments on film because although they are frequent, usually the sight of the camera causes a change in mood and the moment is lost. I now have this one forever.

I almost forgot to post this one....Emalyn's first experience of bare feet in the grass....and muddy toes. She found a patch of dirt (in a matter of 1 second) and dug her toes in sensing the different textures! She loves being outside...I am glad for that!

Snoozing

Cameron and Emmy after the nightly walk (9/24)....she usually doesn't fall asleep but zonked out this time as you can see in the next shot!!

One of our favorite pairs of shoes for Emmy. Given by Trent. We love these little mary janes!

After, well, during another nightly walk, Emalyn passed out (9/26). After pulling her out of her carrier, taking off her hat and laying her on the couch-she's still out! I was even able to clip her little finger nails and toe nails...poor thing was so tired!!

Lazy Afternoon

After work and daycare, Cameron, Emmy and I decided to sit on the couch and just enjoy each other. Of course we had to take some shots....this is her new favorite spot where she can see everything that is going on since she is little miss observant:)

Boo....this is one of my favorite photos and it may just be too dark! Isn't she so sweet in this one?!?! Not to mention her face isn't overwhelmed by those cheeks!!!

Blurry tummy time....we are practicing extra hard to try and get a "roll over" accomplishment. I know she still has until 6 months, but she has been right on or ahead with all her other developments....mommy doesn't want Emmy to fall behind!

Look into my Eyes...

So I thought I could get some shots that actually showed the real color of Emalyn's eyes since they aren't really brown....yeah, didn't really work. But I have some really nice close ups.

I like this one. Cameron was getting her attention. You've gotta be jealous of those lashes too. Must be nice!
