Cameron's Ladies

Cameron decided to take a photo of his two ladies. Maybe we are finally looking more alike?!?!? Most people who see us immediately think she looks like Cameron.

She is getting much stronger and refuses to rest her head down much at all anymore. Her head control has increased immensely within the last two weeks and she LOVES to sit up (assisted, of course) and watch what is going on all around her! Very observant little one!

Say cheese!

Another self portrait....not bad. Gotta love her expression.

She came from the Cabbage Patch!!

Emalyn and I finally got the chance to take some photos of the outfits one of her Aunt's gave her. We've gotten to wear them out and about, but always forget to take a photo...until now! Whenever I see her little face out from under this little hat, I can't help but think of my cabbage patch kid dolls I had growing up! She's such a cutie!

Emalyn is so pretty in white!! Her skin is such a beautiful color, lucky little girl! Unfortunately, her hat with this outfit doesn't fit too well, her head isn't big enough yet!

Muchas gracias Tios Zonia y Julio!!

How Emalyn Rolls

After waking up from sleeping the night, Emalyn will have a feeding and stay awake for about an hour, then it is back to sleep for her. While Cameron was watching her, I got to run off and take a shower and came back to our two little ones catching a nap on the couch. Cameron had to keep instructing Quincy away from Emalyn face/head. He just wanted to curl right up there next to her....so cute!

That evening we spent some time with our dear friends, Trent and Aimee. They are so sweet to hold her and help her drift off to sleep while we relax hanging out at their house. We had a really good talapia dinner and an amazing coffee/chocolate topped ice cream for dessert. All fruits of Trent and Aimee's visit to the farmer's market. Cameron and I need to get to that market one of these days!

Again, the routine before bed is to have bathtime. It happened to be another shampoo night, and to start drying Emalyn's hair, I placed a washcloth over her head....little did I know she would look like she had an old-school wig on! She looks like she belongs in parliament! Rubber duckie helped us keep the photo clean-hahaha!!

"Censor this mom!"....She's so pretty!

Rough Day

We aren't positive if Emalyn having a nuk is the right thing for us, but we are finding that it very helpfully puts her to sleep. It is very rare that she actually keeps it in her mouth as she tends to spit it out right after she falls asleep. Cameron got this shot of her since actually seeing her with that thing in her mouth is so uncommon. It does cover her face a bit much though, doesn't it!

After a rough day of sleeping and feeding, our routine is to take a bath. Every night Emalyn spashes and kicks in the water. The following photo is a shampoo night. We keep wondering if her hair will end up wavy becuase when it is wet it tends to curl. I would love her to have precious curls...we'll just have to see!

Dos Meses

Dear Emmy,

Two Whole Months! Really? I have to go back to work already?!! Really?!?!??

You started sleeeeepinnnnng the niiiiight!! I am singing because I feel rested. Thank you. Truly, thank you! The first time it happened though, I woke up around 5 or 6 in the morning with a horrible jolt and popped out of bed faster than anything, thinking “she’s dead!” Horribly morbid, I know, but I slept so hard and for so long, I didn’t think you had it in you! Oh but you do and now I know, you MUST be mine and daddy’s because we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our sleep!

Grammy went home to TX a week or so ago. She helped us so much during your first weeks of life. I truly do not know how anyone can start out with their first child like

I am starting work part time (two weeks worth) and it is so hard to be away from you. I am lucky your daddy can stay home with you for a month…that makes me feel a lot better. Since you will be home longer than most kids, I feel like you’re going to have a stronger start than the other kiddos at daycare. I want so badly for you to be healthy and not suffer through ear infections and such. Too many kids have to get those nasty tubes. And it isn’t anyone’s fault; their little ear canals are just too small for the moco to drain properly. (I suppose I should take this time to tell you that I often use the Spanish words in lieu of the English words. Moco=mucus. Not a lot, but sometimes. I can’t help it.)

Te amo, nina. Mucho. Y un dia, soy que entiendes.

Love, your momma

Play Gym

Little miss Emalyn has a new favorite past time...playing in her western themed play gym. Cameron has actually played with her in it for 45 minutes! She has little horse that jingles when she kicks it and a mirror to see her reflection, but her favorite is the cow (because she still likes black and white the best)!

So much fun!

Ode to Grandmas

Grammy constructed this beautiful hand-quilted applique quilt for Emalyn's room. The quilt truly turned out beautifully and after all the hardwork she put into it hand-quilting it, Emalyn will only be able to look at it as it will hang on the wall as opposed to being used! Grammy is okay with that idea as well, as the bees and butterflies are patches and may be too rough for Emalyn's skin should it rub on her face or body. Emalyn's room is in the Classic Pooh theme so this quilt will look PERFECT!

Oma (German for Grandma) Weiss has actually spent the last two years hard at work knitting these wonderful pieces for Emalyn. She, of course, had no idea what gender child we were going to have so she actually knitted both little girl and little boy items. Each piece is truly exquisite; hopefully we will have a chance to use each piece.

Thank you so much, Grandmas!!!

Recent Shots

Of course, we had to take a photo of this one to show that Quincy and Emalyn have very much figured out their place with each other. We all were very content sitting on our chair, both Q and Em on Mom's lap. Emalyn is 2 months old in this photo....man, time flies!

Here we are on our way out. We love that the amount of hair Emalyn has allows us to put bows in her hair. This was just three days ago-we aren't sure what she weighs right now, we think about 10-12 lbs. We'll just have to see what the doctor says at her appointment in a couple weeks. Love those cheeks!

More smiles...not just gas!

Emalyn was very intent on looking at her daddy, and then surprised us both with the big, cheesy grin in the next photo. I love seeing her smile!
