Ode to Grandmas

Grammy constructed this beautiful hand-quilted applique quilt for Emalyn's room. The quilt truly turned out beautifully and after all the hardwork she put into it hand-quilting it, Emalyn will only be able to look at it as it will hang on the wall as opposed to being used! Grammy is okay with that idea as well, as the bees and butterflies are patches and may be too rough for Emalyn's skin should it rub on her face or body. Emalyn's room is in the Classic Pooh theme so this quilt will look PERFECT!

Oma (German for Grandma) Weiss has actually spent the last two years hard at work knitting these wonderful pieces for Emalyn. She, of course, had no idea what gender child we were going to have so she actually knitted both little girl and little boy items. Each piece is truly exquisite; hopefully we will have a chance to use each piece.

Thank you so much, Grandmas!!!

Recent Shots

Of course, we had to take a photo of this one to show that Quincy and Emalyn have very much figured out their place with each other. We all were very content sitting on our chair, both Q and Em on Mom's lap. Emalyn is 2 months old in this photo....man, time flies!

Here we are on our way out. We love that the amount of hair Emalyn has allows us to put bows in her hair. This was just three days ago-we aren't sure what she weighs right now, we think about 10-12 lbs. We'll just have to see what the doctor says at her appointment in a couple weeks. Love those cheeks!

More smiles...not just gas!

Emalyn was very intent on looking at her daddy, and then surprised us both with the big, cheesy grin in the next photo. I love seeing her smile!

Back to work....

I unfortunately had to start work again....yes, already. Luckily, I have some flexibility and my boss is allowing me to work half-days, from home, for the next two weeks. Little Emalyn has to adjust to drinking from a bottle and I was able to capture these two shots of Cameron feeding then burping her. I've come to realize bottle feeding can be a lot more work than I thought...nursing isn't so bad! And a lot less burps!

Visiting with Cam's Family

None other than Opa. She's lovin' him holding her too, she's sound asleep!

Great Grandma Lundquist. She just couldn't get over how chubby little Emalyn is. I think it just may be such a long time since she has seen a little one that she forgot how chunky they are in the beginning-especially nursing babies!

Emalyn's Great Uncle Steve and his daughters (from left to right) Hannah, Hailey, and Hunter.
Emalyn's Great Aunt Kim (Steve's her husband). Thanks again for the adorable outfits and Classic Pooh stuffed animals!

Emmy and her Daddy

Love this one. She is so content sleeping in his arms! Too sweet.

Lounging

Last night was blissful as it was Emalyn's first time EVER to sleep through the night. She went to bed at 10:30 and slept, quite soundly, until 7:00 this morning! I was hoping we would have a very alert and "awake" baby today, but this is how she has decided to spend the day....SLEEPING! Pray last night was not the only night for the next who-knows-how-many months that we will look back on as a nice long restful night!
Following you will see a close up of my sweet sleeping baby....but don't miss Quincy in the last shot. His eyes are gleaming!

Playing Around

So I like to think of myself as somewhat of a photographer.....VERY amateur photographer that is....but I decided to take a couple shots and found I was quite pleased with the following. Hopefully you will say, "not too bad." But, if not, have a try at it...it's harder than it looks!! Enjoy!

Say Cheese!

We've been working hard to capture a smile on this little girl's face. As you can see, our photography skills are subpar as both of these are blurry. You've got to be FAST! Cameron and I like to consider these shots a success as you can make out the smile. I have to say this is the best part so far of being her mommy. Smiles are the ultimate reward!

Time Flies!

I just realized we have not posted many photos lately! Here Emalyn is almost 6 weeks old....also we havn't taken a photo together an quite some time, so I stretched out my arm and took some! Clearly from her expression, she is not too fond of the flash.
I can't believe how big she is getting already...she's almost 2 months old now-WOW!
