Time Flies!

I just realized we have not posted many photos lately! Here Emalyn is almost 6 weeks old....also we havn't taken a photo together an quite some time, so I stretched out my arm and took some! Clearly from her expression, she is not too fond of the flash.
I can't believe how big she is getting already...she's almost 2 months old now-WOW!

Amy Rae Photography

This photographer, Amy, is a friend of mine from church....she does a phenomenal job doesn't she? She also does weddings and highschool senior shots etc. Her website is amyraephotography.com-check it out! Emalyn was 2 weeks old when these were taken.
In case you couldn't tell, I am a sucker for Black and Whites. Something about them just captures me.

1 month

Dearest Emalyn,

We’ve had you one whole month. I think I learned more this month than any other month I have lived in my life. Man, talk about a fast learning curve. We’re nursing and you are a champ at it. Hungry, Hungry Hippo should be your nickname!

You haven’t been to church yet….next week will be the first time. I think everyone is going to love you….or at least all that hair you have on your head!

Daddy says you smile, but I don’t believe it. They always say "It's gas!" There are times after you nurse that the ends of your mouth curve into this sweet little smile as if to say, “thanks.” I want it to be a smile, but I have a hard time beliveing that it can happen so soon!

Soooooo….just curious if you plan on starting to sleep the night anytime soon….momma is dying! DYING from lack of sleep. I mean, it’s not that 4 hours isn’t good enough, your momma just likes A LOT of sleep. Please? Think you can give it a try one night? Maybe….? J

Love, your momma

Lady in Red

Grandma (my mom) asked for Emalyn to model this outfit in a photo as she purchased it for Emalyn. She looks adorable, doesn't she!??!!!

Some of My Favorite Shots

A shot of Grampy and Emalyn. Grandpa flew back to TX that day (6/8). Hopefully we will see him (and my mom) in September! You can't really see her onesie, but it says "Grandpa's Little Princess"...he bought it for her that week, isn't that sweet!

I love her expressions and now that her eyes are open there is so much more or a presence of her personality (6/3).

Baby's first bath (6/5)! Emalyn looks calm, but believe me, she yelled like mad when we were drying her off!! We've come to enjoy bathtime now...very relaxing for both of us!

Cameron picked out this outfit and we were supposed to bring her home from the hospital in it. Too bad it was HUGE on her. Now it fits just right (6/15). I can't believe she is going to be a month old, and she fits perfectly in newborn size clothing!

Grammy and Emalyn (Sunday, 6/15). We were on our way to Redstone Restaurant for a brunch to say thanks to Grammy for spending so much time with us as we adjusted to having a brand new member of our family with us. Grammy helped out more than anyone could ever know! THANKS AGAIN Grammy!!

Such a pretty dress!

This little sweet dress if from a mother and daughter at my church. If you think it is cute in this photo, just imagine in person! The color is a strong salmon or coral color, which looks amazing against Emalyn's olive skintone. I still can't get over the fact that she is darker than I am-and sge's only a quarter Guatemalan to my half! What's up with that?!!?

I'm finally in a photo!

So I have been kind of sheepish about being in any of the photos after the baby has been born-no make up, bad hair, etc. But my mom had me pose after a morning walk with with Quincy, our pug. We are in our screened in porch...I forgot how pretty it can be out there with the flowers!

Emalyn's First Day

One of our first shots of our darling little girl after she was born....we can't get over how much dark hair she has!

Grandpa Cain just flew into town and came right to the hospital. He picked up Grandma so that she could go back to the house and get a full night's sleep!

Last but not least Emalyn and Grandma Cain. Grandma stayed with us at the hospital the whole labor and delivery and the night after. I was so grateful for the company!

Emalyn Ruth

No matter how much you think you can plan for giving birth or visualize how it may go, there is really no way to know exactly how or what will happen in that labor and delivery room. Any minute things can change.... and they do. Thankfully, our little girl, Emalyn Ruth, was born perfectly healthy at 3:00 in the afternoon.

Emalyn weighed in at 6 lbs 3 oz. Here she is on the scale waiting to get swaddled again, poor thing!

Cameron was so excited to see her born. It seemed like forever from when we checked in the hospital to when she finally arrived-It was so nice to see her and meet her after 9 long months of waiting!

Here's another of the proud daddy!

Too sweet.

This necklace and charm is a gift Cameron gave me a couple weeks back for my being a first time mom. His gesture is so very sweet as the pink sapphires signify that we are going to be having a little girl. He is such a good planner too, as he decided to give the gift to me early as he thought there might be a "little too much going on" at the hospital when the baby decides it's time. How could I be so lucky....
